Executive summary

Organizational change is important for any organization. In this report, I have demonstrated that Walmart Inc., which runs a number of merchandising stores including hypermarkets, grocery stores, and discount department stores made the right decision to undertake its latest organizational change of restructuring its U.S operations. This involve consolidating business divisions, embracing new technology, downsizing, and building new capacities that meet the growing customer needs (Bose, 2017).

Introduction

Organizations are faced with dynamic and complex business environments that requires them to restructure their operations so as to adapt to such changes. Organizational changes have become a norm. Such changes may include: closing the plant, merging of the businesses or complete acquisition as well as downsizing (Jones & Jones, 2013). The competitive challenges if well implemented always see a company witness major improvements. This report gives a clear overview of the many changes the Walmart Company tried to undertake in order to navigate the murky waters of competition in the industry. This changes came in 2017 and were expected to expand the market base of the company as well as meet customer needs.

Internal or External Pressure Some of the internal pressures that Walmart faced were: management ethics, poor decision making, and lack of a desire by the management to take risks. This saw a decline in effectiveness in service delivery. Some of the external pressures included: changes in the global economy and social and political changes in different countries identified as potential markets, desire to have new technology as well as innovation and di……………..
