Resource Constrained Projects At some point in time, every organization has to encounter resource constraints. The adverse implications of resource constraints tend to affect a project negatively in terms of delays, rushed activities with increased level of errors, and even the loss of experienced employees. Some of these undesirable impacts of resource constrained projects are discussed in details below.

First of all, organizations faced with project resource constraints are unlikely to beat deadlines. Due to lack of certain resources, the deadlines might have been quite unrealistic from the word go (Hartmann, 2012). Secondly, in an attempt to address the issue of resource constraint, organization may be compelled to rush things which might result in errors. Certain errors are detrimental to the final result of the project (Eskerod & Jepsen, 2013). Additionally, an organization may lose experienced workers due to constrained resources. Working with limited resources leads to increased stress and pressure which may see some employees opt out.

Project managers can do a number of things to understand if there is a potential problem. First of all, he or she should conduct a detailed analysis of the various factors surrounding the project. The analysis should encompass the resources available and time factor (Kolisch, 2013). In addition, the project manager should seek to understand the experience of the employees working with the constrained resources (Reddick & Project Management Institute, 2017).

To alleviate the challenge, the project manager and/or organization should come up with ways of addressing the labor and deadline issues. For a start, the project manager may consider hiring temporary service providers to help with simple and clerical tasks (Coelho& Vanhoucke, 2018). Such recruitment however must be within the budget parameters. Secondly, the project manager may instruct the stakeholders to eliminate certain inconsequential step entirely. The company can later devise a method to meet project needs without the omitted step.
